the new Volksbank Stuttgart eG
A state-of-the-art cooperative bank was how the local press described the establishment of the new Volksbank Stuttgart eG. Indeed, it is a typical cooperative bank: for more than 145 years, the bank loyally served the private and medium-sized business sectors at the heart of the region. To this day, experienced people combine cooperative principles and modern practices.
With over 90 branches, from Gerlingen to Lorch and Echterdingen to Nellmersbach, the bank is ever-present to assist its customers with financial matters. Private and business customers take advantage of classic bank products and the wide range of modern financial services under one roof. Jointly with international players within the cooperative finance group, the bank has its finger on the pulse of the world, but acts exclusively in the region.
More than one in three customers is also a member of the Volksbank Stuttgart eG. Entirely in keeping with the spirit of § 1 of the Cooperatives Act, the bank focuses its activities on the needs of its around 110,000 current members and is working hard to extend its scope.
As a regional cooperative bank, it is also very closely linked to the people and com-munities in the business area. Not only as business partner, but also as sponsor. The bank regularly supports to local clubs, social projects and charity organisations, with annual funding of around half a million euros. Sharing its economic success is part of the programme.
In 2010 the Stuttgart Volksbank and the Volksbank Rems merged to become Volksbank Stuttgart eG. With total assets of 4.7 billion euros, customer assets managed of around 9.6 billion euros, more than 1,000 employees and approximately. 285,000 customers, the largest cooperative bank in Baden-Wuerttemberg went live.
