Wind as the power behind tomorrow’s mobility
Exactly 50 years ago, the E-Jaguar astounded the trade world at the international automobile salon in Geneva. Windreich AG saw the sleek fast British model and, with sights consistently trained on the future, put its “E”-abbreviation on the company agenda. The 1961 icon gets a transplant, an advanced electric drive. The charging power is generated CO2-free by wind power. The driving performance of the Windreich E built on the lines of an original E-type Jaguar will at least match that of the genuine article. A team of experts worked flat out to complete this ambitious project by July 2011. It drives Windreich AG’s activities forward into e-mobility – particularly in the year of the 125th anniversary of the automobile. Back in September 2010, the company from Wolfschlugen presented the world’s first two-seater aircraft, the “Windreich Arcus E” which can fly completely CO2-free. Even the electric motor batteries are charged purely with clean green power, namely by a wind turbine mounted on the roof of the aircraft hangar. Even the famous scientist and adventurer, Bertrand Piccard came to the Hahnweide in Kirchheim unter Teck, to have Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing. (FH)Willi Balz explain the system to him and to fly together with the Windreich Group chairman. The electric motor glider “Windreich Arcus E” has meanwhile won the “365 Orte im Land der Ideen” (365 places in the country of ideas) competition jointly organised by Deutsche Bank under the patronage of the German president. Following this model, Windreich AG will also replicate the complete process chain of e-mobility in land-based mobility, for running electric vehicles only makes sense if charging – regardless of whether it is on land, sea or in the air – is powered solely by regenerative energies.
